CREATIVE AGING ARTS PROVIDES ART PROGRAMS FOR:
•  Independent adults as part of healthy aging
•  Adults in assisted living faciliities and nursing homes
•  Caregivers

CREATIVE AGING ARTS' curriculum is based on the 2006 landmark study by Gene D. Cohen, M.D., Ph.D., “ The Creativity and Aging Study”, that proves professionally conducted, sequential arts-learning programs promote better health and disease prevention among older adults who engage in them. Researchers are discovering that the aging brain is far more plastic than previously believed, and that structured learning—especially through the arts— can improve cognitive functioning and enhance the quality of life.
ACCORDING TO DR. COHEN'S STUDY, OLDER ADULTS ENGAGED IN ARTS ACTIVITIES
• are happier
• gain a new sense of identity
• can live at home longer
• use less medication
• have lower rate of falls
• have less doctor visits
• experiences fewer ADE (adverse side affects) from medications
• feel less lonely
The CREATIVE AGING ARTS curriculum encourages and celebrates individual expression. The projects are "person centered" with each participant determining the outcome of their artwork at its conclusion. At the end of each workshop, there is an opportunity for participants to  share their experience of making art with others in the group.  Close attention is paid to nurturing an enjoyable and supportive environment.
•  Creative Aging Art's workshops can be scheduled monthly, weekly, or as a limited
     consecutive series of art workshops.
•  Each art session is designed for the participant's enjoyment and sense of
    accomplishment
•  All materials are professional quality and water-based
•  The completed artwork belongs to the participant and if they wish they can give it
to  the facility to be exhibited in the communal area.
